Got Questions?
What is your Cancellation Policy?
For Dog Walking, Drop-in Visits, and Hourly Care:
We require 24-hour notice for all cancellations so that we have the opportunity to fill that spot with another client if needed.
Cancellations outside of these time windows are subject to a cancellation fee equalling 50% of the service total.
For Pet Sits:
A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at time of booking to reserve your desired dates. Cancellation of overnight pet-sits must be received at least 48 hours in advance of first scheduled sit to receive your 50% credit for future use. Visits cancelled less than 48 hour notice will be billed at half rate (deposit will be kept).
Inclement Weather/Personal Emergency/Natural Disaster Policy
In the event of personal emergency, inclement weather, natural disaster or other circumstances beyond our control. The pet care provider is entrusted to use their best judgment in caring for the pet(s) and home such as arranging for the client's emergency contact or another qualified person/company to continue care. Every attempt will be made to notify the client regarding such a situation.
If weather conditions are unsafe, temperature is too hot or too cold, your service will be modified accordingly with shorter walks and more playtime, cuddles, or brain games inside.
In cases where you are out of town during services, we strongly suggest that one of your emergency contacts be someone nearby your home, who also has access to a key or key code (such as a trusted neighbour), so that in the case of unsafe weather where the pet care provider cannot get to your home, there will be a backup option for your pets.
Do you charge Holiday Fees?
Yes, we do charge a holiday fee equalling 50% of the service fee for that one day. Holiday fees are charge on all Stat Holidays as well as Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
What is a Meet & Greet and do I have to do it?
A Meet & Greet is required for every client before any service can be scheduled, and a completed Time To Pet account is required before our Meet & Greet.
Meet & Greets typically take about 10-20 minutes and include:
- Asking questions about your pet and their care routine
- Giving you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have
- Giving your pet a chance to meet us and give us a thorough sniff inspection if they wish
- A brief tour of your home, or just the relevant areas for our services such as the location of a cat litter box, dog leashes, pet food storage etc.
- The client will be expected to provide a key or key code for the home
How do I know which Pet Sitting Package is right for me?
No Ruff Days offers three different levels of pet sitting. All of these packages include an overnight stay, as well as making sure your pet receives all of their regular meals, medications and exercise needs. The main differences in these packages is the amount of time we spend with your pet during the day.
Our main rule of thumb is this:
- If your pet is comfortable being home alone for 7+ hours during the day, then the Overnight Care Package is a great fit!
- If your pet is comfortable being home alone for anywhere between 4-7 hours during the day, then the Live-in Care Package will be the best fit.
- If your pet is comfortable being home alone for less than 4 hours during the day, then the Luxury Care Package will be the best fit.
If you are still not sure, please feel free to send us a message and tell us a little bit more about your pet(s). We will make a suggestion or customize a package just for you!
Do you let the dogs off leash?
For the safety of your pet, we do not let any dogs off leash unless we are in a securely fenced in area such as your backyard. All walks outside of the home are done on-leash. If you are interested in off-leash pack hikes, we have a few fantastic companies in town, and we would be happy to make a recommendation.
Do I need to provide a leash or harness for my dog's walk?
Yes, it is expected that a leash (and harness if your dog uses one), will be provided for the walker. Please have it in the same place every time to avoid us having to hunt around your home.
For the safety and comfort of your pet, we do not use retractable leashes, prong collars, or shock collars.
What kind of payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment by e-transfer or by credit card on our booking software, TimeToPet.
Why can't you give me an exact pick-up time?
Our walking schedule works based on 2-hour time blocks, so if you want your dog to be walked around 12 p.m. we would book you in between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and we will do our best to complete your pets appointment between these times.
Working in pet care can often be unpredictable. we never know if we'll need to clean up vomit in the car, get stuck traffic, have to stop to give medical attention to a pet, etc. These scheduled time blocks allow us a bit of buffer room to tend to the unexpected, while also keeping our schedule running smoothly. The patience and flexibility of our clients is always appreciated!
How do you get into my house when I'm not home?
In most circumstances, clients will provide us with a key, a keyless entry code, or they will have a key available in a well hidden place near the house. It is important that we have a reliable and safe way to enter your home so that we don't have to bug you at work or on vacation if something doesn't go as planned. We will always ensure your home is locked upon leaving, and when not in use, your key is kept in a securely locked place.
Ps. Don't forget to give us your alarm code if you have one armed!
Do you train dogs on your walks?
We are not certified dog trainers at No Ruff Days, therefore, no formal training will be taking place. If your dog engages in pulling, reactivity, lunging/jumping, etc. these habits will not magically disappear, however, regular outings with a professional walker and/or other dogs, have been shown to reduce these habits in some cases. We always use positive reinforcement during our visits and treat every pet with patience and kindness, regardless of temperament.
What is required for my dog to join in on a social walk?
All dogs that are planning to join in on social walks must meet the following criteria:
- At least 6 months of age
- Up to date on vaccinations
- Intact female dogs must not be in season
- No history of biting or aggression towards another dog or human
If your dog does not currently meet these requirements we would gladly offer private walking services for the safety of your dog and others.
Is Pick-up and Drop-off including in your service?
Yes! Our walking services include pick-up and drop-off worked into the price.
Do you offer Boarding Services?
Unfortunately, no. While we would love to offer boarding services, we do not currently have the facilities set up to accomodate this. All pet sitting services are done in the client's own home.
How does online booking work?
Online booking is now available for Dog Walking and Drop-in Visit appointments through our pet care app, TimeToPet. To get your account set up please send us an email or submit a New Client Request.
Please keep in mind that when you submit an appointment request on our app it is still only a “request” until we accept it. Your appointment will show as “pending” until we have a chance to review it and you will receive an email to let you know when it has been accepted or if it is unavailable.
Online booking for in-home pet sitting is not available at this time. All inquiries for pet sitting can be made by email to Emily at noruffdaysnanaimo@gmail.com for new clients, or by messaging us on TimeToPet, for current clients.
